The exercise, called HALLOWEEN, tested a scenario involving the total loss of the County Council’s main IT centre. It involved several teams working closely together, to a pre-determined plan, to use alternative locations and resources to maintain services with a minimum level of disruption.

The exercise was a resounding success and has provided assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the County Council’s arrangements should such an event occur. Nevertheless, some minor improvements to the plan were identified and these will be incorporated, to further enhance the quality of the plan.
The exercise also gave the participants the opportunity to practice their Emergency roles as part of the County Council’s on-going business continuity training programme.
