It’s Snow Joke As Winter Bites In Staffordshire

Posted on: 06/02/2012

On the afternoon of Saturday 4 February 2012 Staffordshire saw moderate amounts of snow across most of the County, with totals exceeding 10cm in some places. Consequently, driving conditions became very difficult in many places, with many minor roads, and some main roads, becoming impassable to all but 4 wheel drive vehicles.

The Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit, working with its partners, was able to arrange for a number of 4 wheel drive vehicles to be made available to support the health sector to ensure that critical care staff could continue to reach patients, despite the weather conditions.

Andy Marshall, the Director of Civil Contingencies, said “I would like to give special thanks to the Staffordshire Search And Rescue Team (SSART), who provided a number of drivers and vehicles, in support of the Staffordshire Resilience partnership, through the evening and into Sunday morning.”
