More Local Authority Forward Control Officers across Staffordshire

Posted on: 18/01/2012

Yesterday saw staff from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Cannock Chase and South Staffordshire District Councils attend training to carry out the role of Forward Control Officer for their Authority.

Training was conducted by staff from the Civil Contingencies Unit and hosted by Cannock Chase District Council as part of a long running programme of training events across the Resilience Forum.

The Forward Control Officer role is important as it is the operational manager for their organisation at any incident site coordinating the Councils response to given emergencies while linking in with the multi agency responders such as the emergency services, Environment Agency and utility companies to name a few.

Steve Berry, from the Civil Contingencies Unit stated “The training was received very positively and enthusiastically by all attendees.  The package has been designed to ensure a common standard of response across the Local Authorities and to reassure those trained of the support they can expect while carrying out this role”.
