Staffordshire’s Community Risk Register is the key tool in highlighting any risk areas that may need emergency response and recovery plans. From this Register Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit has prepared a number of multi agency plans for the county which are known as Staffordshire Integrated Emergency Plans (SIEP). All agencies involved in mitigating the incident are part of the planning process and have an important role in resolving the incident.
Before any plan is deemed suitable to use it must be assessed and tested to see if it is fit for role. This is carried out by conducting exercises with suitable scenarios to ensure the plan is robust and flexible ensuring it is capable to mitigate the emergency incident it has been produced to deal with.
Each plan in reviewed on an annual basis to ascertain whether it is still fit for role. The plan will also be exercised every three years to ensure that it is still current. Any shortfalls or amendments are then incorporated into the plans and each Category 1 and Category 2 responder agency informed of the changes.
