Update: 27 May - The security level has returned to severe - meaning an attack is considered to be highly likely
23 May 2017: The Prime Minster has raised the national security level to Critical following the attack in Manchester this week. This means that an attack may be imminent and you are likely to see more police on the streets (both armed and unarmed) as well as increased security at events. Military personnel may also be deployed to assist the Police in guarding some sites. These are precautions aimed at keeping the public safe and reassured. More information on threat levels is available via the MI5 website and a BBC article.
Information on what this means in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent has been published by Staffordshire Police and they also have information on actions to take if caught up in an attack. CitizenAid have also produced a free app to help people take actions in an incident.
If you have any information about possible terrorist activity, please call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321 or report it here.
