About the SRF

Staffordshire Prepared is the official website for the Staffordshire Resilience Forum (SRF). Our aim is to help you, your family, your business and your community prepare for and respond to emergencies.

We provide practical, easy-to-understand advice on what to do before, during, and after an incident.

What is the Staffordshire Resilience Forum (SRF)?

The Staffordshire Resilience Forum (SRF) is a partnership of public sector organisations who work together to keep Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent safe.

Our partners include the emergency services, local councils, the NHS, and the Environment Agency.

Our main job is to plan and prepare for potential emergencies. We identify the main risks in our county, write emergency plans, and run training exercises to make sure we are ready to respond as one team.

How our partnership works

A small, full-time team called the Civil Contingencies Unit (CCU) co-ordinates this work. They are specialist planners who write the emergency plans and provide 24/7 support to our partners during a major incident.

Our Partners

The SRF is made up of two main groups, as set out by the UK's Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

Category 1 Responders (The Core Group) These organisations are at the centre of planning for and responding to all emergencies.

  • Staffordshire Police
  • Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service
  • West Midlands Ambulance Service
  • Staffordshire County Council
  • Stoke-on-Trent City Council
  • All District & Borough Councils in Staffordshire
  • NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (Integrated Care Board)
  • Environment Agency
  • Highways England

Category 2 Responders (Our Key Partners) These organisations are also involved in planning for incidents. They include utility companies and transport providers:

  • Gas and Electricity network operators
  • Water companies (Severn Trent and South Staffs)
  • Network Rail
  • Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

Support Organisations:

  • Voluntary and local infrastructure organisations such as Support Staffordshire and Voluntary Action Stoke-on-Trent
  • Military
  • Universities
  • Prisons
