Volunteering
In an emergency, the desire to help is one of the strongest parts of our community.
However, the best way to help is to get involved before an emergency happens.
Why you should join a voluntary group
During an incident, the scene can be dangerous and chaotic. For your own safety and to help the emergency services, it is vital that you do not go to the scene to help.
The most effective way you can help is by joining one of our key voluntary partners. These groups are fully trained, co-ordinated, and insured. They work as an official part of our emergency plans to:
- Run rest centres for evacuated residents
- Provide first aid
- Support vulnerable people
